Read this Q and A with Dr. Palacio below to learn more.
What inspired you to become a dentist?
While on a mission trip to Peru, I spent time with my uncle who practices as a general dentist. He primarily serves impoverished people of his community, with his top priority being to improve their quality of life. Seeing first-hand how he could change their smile, and in turn, their life, resonated with me and was the first time I considered dentistry as a career.
Did you consider any other careers before committing to dentistry?
I considered other careers in medicine but loved that dentistry allowed me to combine my love of science and art into one profession.
How long have you worked at Contemporary Dentistry? What made you want to work here?
I have worked here for about 8 months. I believe in the importance of patient-centered care, and CD makes it a priority to focus on patients’ oral health and overall well-being.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of your job?
I enjoy playing a part in improving a patient’s life, whether it be getting them out of pain, improving oral function, or giving them a reason to smile again.
What are your favorite procedures to perform?
I enjoy extractions and prepping for crowns.
What area of dentistry do you find more intriguing and why? Do you plan to specialize in that area?
I enjoy both prosthodontics and oral surgery but do not plan on specializing because general dentistry allows for the opportunity to tackle all the different aspects of dental medicine.
What’s your favorite part about working at Contemporary Dentistry?
Working with and learning from Drs. Messer, Belous, and Calcagno
What advice do you wish every patient would take?
Floss every day!
Is there anything else you would like your patients to know about you?
I pride myself in creating a warm, welcoming environment for all patients, easing anxious patients into their treatment, getting patients out of pain, and providing them with the best dental care.
What do you enjoy doing in your free time when you’re not practicing dentistry?
I enjoy playing tennis, going to the ballet, learning how to cook, and spending time with my family and friends.
